FAMILY FORMATION STARTS IN THE FALL - ORIENTATION SESSSION SEPTEMBER 5

St. Aloysius will be starting its Family Formation program in the fall. We are excited about this since it is a first for our community.

Why are we doing this you may ask? Well, as you may be aware, faith education is no longer present in our primary schools and we felt that as a parish, it was important that we respond to this and provide something concrete to families that goes beyond the sacramental preparation courses and involves both the parents and the children. So after visiting St. Maurice parish in Ottawa to see first hand how such a program could work, we are almost ready to take our first steps here at St. Aloysius.

What is this all about you may ask? Well, the basic principle of the program is simple, equip the parents to teach their children about their faith. So, we work with both the parents and the children once a month at the church. Then the much of the learning actually goes on in the family home over the course of the month using prepared materials that are age-specific. If you are a parent with children between the ages of 3 and 12 and want to find out more, we invite you to attend the orientation session September 5 after the Family Mass and after the Meet and Greet. Father Gyan and members of the team will be presenting more specific information about the program and you will have an opporunity to ask questions. If after that, you are ready to take the next step, we will be taking registrations at that same day for the courses that will start in October. Please note there will be a fee for the course (exact price will be confirmed) to cover the cost of the materials. The program will run from October to May.

If you know parents who would be interested in participating in this new initiative, please pass this bulletin along to them
